PRAHRAN SQUARE OCT 9-11

Swerve Drivers is an immersive projection dance performance that explores new ways of existing. How can we swerve away from climate catastrophe and socio-ecological fracture? Instinctively through the body, we explore tactics and rituals to process climate grief and invigorate imagination, connection, empowerment and innovation. The dancer morphs with creatures and technology, creating new transcendent humans. They are Swerve Drivers, here to hold and guide us, floating freely, unhindered from patriarchal powers stuck in archaic destructive approaches. They connect us with a far more fascinating way of being, where nature is our kin and innovation is revered.

Swerve Drivers was developed in response to escalating extreme weather events and climatic change. Its intention is as an antidote to fear and despondence, to process climate grief, inspire and energise regeneration and as a balm to create a feeling of empowerment, connection and inspiration through interactive live art. Over 100 young people contributed drawings of imagined Swerve Driver characters, which have been woven into the performance.

You’re invited into the work: observe in stillness, move or dance - however your body needs.
